Key New York City hospital writes this is used in cancer cures. Both chaga and calendula are considered anti-cancer. Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital suggests calendula has “anti-HIV effects.” The hospital reports that chaga “has demonstrated anticancer… inhibitory and pro-apoptotic effects against colon cancer and hepatoma cells.”

Both chaga and calendula reduce toxicity associated with radiation. Though these measurements are associated with ingestion, in salve there is healing from the outside in, as the bloodstream absorbs what is applied to the skin.
