Patchouli oil has been shown in tests to inhibit the growth of acne bacteria. Its antifungal properties have led people to use patchouli essential oil on the scalp to reduce fungi responsible for seborrheic dermatitis or dandruff.
Patchouli leaves have often been used in India as a mosquito repellent, also was once widely used in packing garments to keep moths away. This is also why its leaves and oils are used in potpourri. It has been used to combat ants, flies and termites! So lovely isn’t it that we enjoy the fragrance so disliked by or deadly for bugs!
